How to pick the right size hanger

Picking the right size hanger is crucial to ensuring your closet stores your clothes effectively. Your pieces will spend most of their useful life on a hanger, which means you need to have a good one to ensure you extend their useful life and they don't suffer any damage. A hanger in the right size to reflect your shoulders is the best way to ensure your pieces stay in top condition long term.

To measure for the right size hanger, you'll first need to select a shirt that has well defined shoulder seams and that fits you really well. I recommend picking one of your favorites! Use a measuring tape or a ruler to measure from seam to seam across the back of your shirt. In this image here I am measuring a small shirt and it comes in at 14.5 inches. Since our hangers have such a generous shoulder curve, its okay to size up a little bit. And so in this instance you would need a XS hanger which is 15 inches wide.

Here we have another example where the shirt seams come in at exactly 16 inches. In this case, you can pick either the 16in or the 17in and you will get a pretty good fit either way, but if you're unsure, I recommend measuring a second shirt. If the second shirt comes in a little under 16 inches, then pick the Size S hanger. If the second shirt comes in a little over 16 inches, then pick the Size M hanger.

In this example, we are measuring a larger shirt and it comes in at 17 1/4 inches. I would recommend sizing up to a size L hanger to help properly drape your clothes.

Good luck measuring and we are always here to help if you have any questions!

Happy Hanging!
